If you were to slice through Laxton Properties there are various things that would be evident in our DNA: quality, sustainability, integrity and legacy all immediately come to the fore. So too does our geographic focus, with a deliberate concentration on our ‘patch’ centred on our base in Berkhamsted and the surrounding area. Laxton and Berko run hand in hand together.
And so it is a genuine pleasure to announce that Berkhamsted Schools Group has agreed to sell its Haslam Field site to Laxton Properties. This land has been allocated for housing within the draft Dacorum Borough Council Local Plan for quite some time and we are proud to have been selected to both facilitate the creation of new and improved sports pitch facilities at the School’s Haresfoot Campus and subsequently to develop the Haslam Field site to provide around 100 homes, of which 40% will be Affordable Homes.
As part of the redevelopment of Haslam Field we are partnering with Sunnyside Rural Trust, which provides training and employment for vulnerable people with learning difficulties. We are looking to provide a community café, repair shed and significant open space that will be run by Sunnyside and which will provide wider benefits to the town.
What is particularly exciting about this project is that our approach aligns closely with that of Berkhamsted Schools Group, which is similarly committed to the creation of a high quality development that is genuinely beneficial to the local community. There is plenty to be done in the planning process and we look forward to designing and creating a stand out new neighbourhood for Berkhamsted.
